The Program for Leadership & Policy in Education
قِسْمُ اَلْقِيَادَةِ وَالسِّيَاسَاتِ اَلتَّرْبَوِيَّةِ
The program trains educators for leadership and policy roles within social, educational, and cultural systems. It aims to enhance students' intellectual and research skills while developing their ability to initiate, design, and implement education policies. This includes leading educational institutions, initiatives, and intervention programs, with a particular emphasis on informal education and alternative educational settings. The program's curriculum encourages students to critically and constructively engage with social and value-based issues, such as justice, equality, recognition, social stratification, mobility, identity, citizenship, nationalism, and religion, as they relate to education policy both globally and in Israel. To achieve this, the program offers multidisciplinary studies that include in-depth discussions on contemporary theoretical knowledge drawn from the sociology and anthropology of education, youth studies, philosophy and the humanities, media and social network studies, education policy, leadership development, and critical education. The program is designed for individuals engaged in and passionate about education, society, and culture. It is particularly suited for those working in schools, informal education frameworks, NGO associations, civil society organizations, and institutions offering alternative education. The program includes both MA and PhD graduate studies.
Leardership and Policy in Education is the biggest staffed program for the study of sociology and anthropology of education in Israel. The University of Haifa’s Faculty of Education is the biggest and highest ranked academic center in Israel and in 2021, was globally ranked 50-75 in The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) (Shanghai Ranking).
